Our Guest House in Kerala

OUR GUESTHOSE: ….is situated a little apart from the main residence, to grant distance and privacy, yet in “safe” proximity. It was built in 1996 according to the ancient principal of Vaasthushastram and has been thoroughly renovated and extended in 2006. It consists of one room (24 qm) with windows opening to all 4 directions to let in the breeze, a west veranda with kitchenette and dining place for the sunsets, an east veranda facing the sunrise and the landscape (each app. 16 qm). Equipped by using the natural local materials of clay, forest wood, hand-woven and vegetable dyed cotton fabrics, old traditional wooden furnishing, and modern mosquito nets. A spacious open air bathroom is attached to take a shower under the stars. The guesthouse is surrounded by wood and meadow, by jasmine bushes and pineapple plants, by sun and shadow. Easy chair and hang mat invite you….. We very much care for cleanliness (but still: we are in the tropics and the sight of an cockroach for example cannot be excluded) and environmental responsible usage of our natural resources. |
